SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A family outing for Mother's Day weekend turned into a family nightmare after they were allegedly attacked in downtown Savannah.

WTOC has acquired the police report and are working to get more details into what happened and whether or not police are looking for any suspects.

The report states that officers responded to Savannah's Riverwalk near Rousakis Plaza Saturday night to find a family of 8 from Metro Atlanta claiming they had been attacked.

The family says they had just finished dinner and were walking down River Street when they were jumped by at least 3 men.

The family told police they tried to fight back but a number of family members were injured, including several adults and a 6-year-old girl who was reportedly punched in the stomach.

In the report, Metro police say they are reviewing surveillance video.

The incident remains under investigation.
