STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - Georgia Southern got an early start on stopping.
Smoking that is.
The university's ban on smoking and tobacco products started on Friday, two months ahead of the deadline given to all public colleges and universities in Georgia.
The university already banned smoking in and away from all buildings, but this rule covers stadiums and all outdoor spots on campus.
"This is just another way to encourage the wellness, total wellness, of all of our community, students, faculty, staff and visitors," said Dean of Students Patrice Jackson.
The university will also offer classes to help those who want to quit smoking.
