TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) - Sometimes, a fake news story gains so much traction on social media, you have to nip it in the bud. So I've done just that in my Tuesday morning Daybreak Asked and Answered.

I've received at least 30 emails, messages and posts asking is this true? If you've been on Facebook a lot over the weekend, you may have seen the supposed news story claiming a pair of amateur divers from Canada found the Tybee bomb, drawing a massive response from law enforcement and the FBI.

Since Friday, the story has been spreading like wildfire. It is from a website called the World News Daily Report, and it is absolutely, positively false.

I spoke with Tybee Police, Ocean Rescue and city officials, who all say they would have known if anything like this had happened. And, if anybody would have taken a look at the other news stories on this website, they would have seen some of the other wacky, tabloid-like news posts, like a 40-pound baby born, a man who dug up his wife for a romantic Valentine's dinner, and Justin Bieber impregnating a Brazilian prostitute, among other fictional news.
