Brunswick PD continues to investigate fatal vehicle vs. pedestrian collision

BRUNSWICK, GA (WTOC) - The Brunswick Police Department is investigating a fatal collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian early Monday morning.

Officials say that on Monday at approximately 2:50 a.m., officers of the Brunswick Police Department responded to a vehicle verses pedestrian collision that occurred on Altama Avenue. They say the driver of the vehicle in question was traveling southbound on Altama Avenue when it collided with the victim, Dejon Dawson, 20, of Brunswick.

Dawson was transported to the Southeast Georgia Health System Brunswick Campus by the Glynn County Emergency Medical Services where he was pronounced dead. Police are still awaiting Toxicology reports, but they do know Dawson died of blunt force trauma. The investigation also discovered that he was in the road before being hit by the car.

At this time, the driver is not facing any charges, but the collision is under investigation.
