Man charged with strangling girlfriend to death to be arraigned

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A man charged with strangling his girlfriend to death late last year is scheduled to be in court Monday morning.

Authorities are calling this a very sad case of domestic violence. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police say Roman Eugene Hills killed not only his girlfriend, Beverly Jones, but the mother of his children.

Back in November, paramedics and police found Jones dead inside her home on Graydon Street.

Hills said she had fallen down the stairs and hit her head, but prosecutors say Hills strangled her to death.

Jones had five children whose ages range from 3 to 16. A fund has been set up to help the children.

Hills is scheduled to be at the Chatham County Courthouse Monday morning at 9:30 a.m. for his arraignment.
