POOLER, GA (WTOC) - A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Monday for the new Pooler City Hall.
Excavators have now cleared the site, which is located along Highway 80.
The $17.3 million complex will house everything from the police department to council chambers.
"It's going to allow the communities on either side of this place to be able to just walk down to city hall, walk to the post office; do what we want. The new urbanism live, work, play; let everybody else go use Pooler Parkway and do all of their shopping, but this is the locals' area we want to rejuvenate," said Eric Johnson, Principal, Hussie Gay Bell.
The 55,000 square foot facility includes a 30 percent growth space, so as Poole grows, they will not have to build another building anytime soon.
Construction is expected to be complete by fall.
