Savannah State front gate open with restricted access as SSU officers investigate shooting at Student Union

Savannah State University is on lock down after a shooting incident near the student union

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah State University officers are investigating a shooting at the Student Union.

According to a school official, the lockdown has lifted.

The front gate is now open with restricted access. There is a mandatory ID check upon entrance and a vehicle search for drivers leaving.

Residential students are encouraged to stay in place.

According to a school official, one male has been transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
