TOOMBS CO., GA (WTOC) - A massive fire broke out overnight at a factory on the Toombs/Montgomery County line.

The fire is at the Lady Renee Industries factory on Hwy 56. A driver traveling along Hwy 56 near Uvalda saw the flames around 1 a.m. Friday and called for help.

Fire crews from Toombs, Montgomery and Jeff Davis counties, as well as Georgia Department of Corrections fire teams have all responded to try and put the fire out.

The two buildings that have been destroyed house a welding shop and a wood shop.

Lady Renee Industries is a wholesale company for beauty supplies for barber shops and hair salons, and there are many chemicals associated with those types of supplies. The company also does the furniture work for barber shops and salons. They handle a lot of upholstery and refinishing for the furniture in those kind of businesses.

Fire crews have been able to keep the flames away from the buildings that store the chemicals. They worked all night to contain the fire.

The fire is now out. Firefighters will remain at the scene to monitor hot spots.

At this time, there is no word on what may have caused the fire.

WTOC is at the scene, and we will keep you updated throughout the morning with any new information.
