SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Stena Imperial ship is the newest vessel of the IMO2MAX model, a product tanker that can carry 15,000 kilograms of cargo.

Company leaders for Stena Bulk say the ship is a great step toward creating a more sustainable shipping concept combined with flexible design.

New hull lines, a specially designed propeller, engines and more will reduce the overall energy consumption to a minimum.

The company, based out of Sweden, owns and operates tanker ships all around the world, transporting anything from chemicals to crude oil.

"From Stena Bulk, this is of course a brand new ship that we're very proud of and I'm sure that's going to serve us well and also the people here in America when we are here," said Erik Hanell, Stenabulk president and CEO.

The ship measures about 600 feet long and 100 feet wide.

Stena Bulk employs nearly 20,000 people all over the globe.
