Anna Aliffi: Princess for a day in Savannah
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Every girl deserves to be treated like a princess. For one Savannah woman, her dream came true.
Anna Aliffi has always had limited physical and intellectual capabilities, but she's also had a love for and lived in a world where anything is possible through the world of Disney. Now she is in hospice care and can't go see the princesses she has always loved. So, in movie twist, the princesses came to Savannah to visit with Anna.
For Anna, it's just a day spent with her girls, Snow White, Cinderella, and Anna and Elsa from Frozen.
Anna has loved always wanted to be a princess.
"Anna had woken me up in the middle of the night to ask me what my favorite princess was, and we debated that a bit," said Frank Aliffi, Anna's father.
Frank shared that story with her caregivers. Anna unfortunately is in hospice care at her father Frank's home. Her caregivers helped Frank make this fairy tale day come true.
"Realizing this may be the final gift that as a father I can give to her, means so much to me. This is a lifelong memory that I will have of her happiness. I don't know if any parent could put a price tag on it," he said.
Like a Disney Princess, Anna's life hasn't been easy. She's had Muscular Dystrophy her whole life. She has immersed herself in things she can do, like watch movies and music.
"She's so into it, intellectually, at an age where that's as real to her as perhaps as talking to a person on the street would be to you and I," her father said.
To Anna, these are real princesses coming to visit. The idea for the ball came after Anna woke Frank up in the middle of the night. A fairy tale come true.
"This is absolutely such a joy for her, seeing her and the happiness she's having," said Frank.
Happiness...where dreams really do come true.
Frank Aliffi says after the visit, he had tucked Anna in for a nap, and that she was really tired. As he did so, she told him that this was the "Best day ever."
