Hinesville teen dies after being run over by tractor trailer

HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) - A 17-year-old Hinesville man has died after being run over by a tractor trailer on Monday afternoon.

Hinesville Police say the truck driver was delivering items to Chris's Curbside on Hollywood Drive, when a man decided to take a nap underneath his truck. That person has been identified as Kevin Ansley,17, of Hinesville.

Hinesville Police Department Traffic Accident Investigator, Richard Boucher, said Ansley was found laying in the parking lot injured by a passerby who called 911. When Officer Pat Cochran arrived, he spoke with Ansley who said he was attempting to take a nap under the truck when he was run over.

The driver of the truck was unaware that he had ran over Ansley, and continued to make his rounds. When notified, he returned to the scene of the accident. Boucher says he will not be facing any charges.

Ansley was transported to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah by medical air evacuation helicopter with trauma to his torso area. He passed away later Monday afternoon.
