SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - This year's election season in Savannah is getting more and more contentious with every turn and Thursday night's debate at the Civil Rights Museum may have crossed all the lines.

Those at Thursday night's debate featuring the candidates from District 5, said it got off to an unusually heated start.   But it's what happened after the debate between incumbent, Estella Shabazz's husband, County Commissioner, Yusuf Shabazz and challenger, Shaundra McKiethen.
She filed a police report this morning claiming Shabazz threatened her with a gun.

"He came in front of the door and he looked at me very menacingly and opened his jacket to show me that he had a gun," McKiethen said. "Now that crossed the line."

McKeithen said she told Shabazz she would not be bullied and left the debate hall. However, she said she will not attend another political event during this election without private security.

Efforts to contact Shabazz have not been returned at this time.
