Aspiring actress killed in accident on DeRenne Ave.
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - One person is confirmed dead after being hit by a vehicle on DeRenne Avenue near Reynolds Street on Sunday morning around 3:13 a.m.
Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the accident that killed 30-year-old Thadea Williams, of Stone Mountain, Georgia.
Williams was an aspiring actress who has been featured in many television and film productions, including Watson's Go To Birmingham, Let's Stay Together, For Better Or Worse, Single Mom's Club, Fast And Furious 7, Hunger Games, and Rickey Smiley.
Police say Williams was sitting in the front passenger seat of a Hyundai Accent going eastbound, driven by 31-year-old Antiqua Walker, of Lithonia, Georgia, when they pulled over in the left turn lane to take a look at the cause of a check-engine notification.
At that time, Jacoby Minor, 35, of Savannah, was also driving east on DeRenne Avenue in a Chevrolet Camaro, when he struck Williams with his vehicle.
A passenger in the Camaro immediately placed Williams in the car, and drove her to Candler Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
This is an ongoing MAIT investigation.
