SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Hundreds got their rear in gear Saturday morning in honor of the late Mike Manhatton. It all started with a kiddie race, and after they made it across the finish line, the adults hit the pavement.
All of the money raised will support colon cancer patients and screenings in Savannah. This was at St. Joseph's/Candler Hospital's Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion. Manhatton's widow Mariella said the energy was amazing.
"It just fills my heart to see all of these people here, not just for my husband, but for their own families and for themselves," Mariella said. "This is something that affects anybody. It doesn't discriminate. So it is just awesome to see everybody out here rallying for the same cause."
WTOC's own Dawn Baker was the event's emcee, and a charity BBQ followed.
