SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Ahead of the official kick-off to Saint Patrick's Day festivities in Savannah, city leaders are hosting a delegation from the Wexford County Council of Ireland.
The two groups exchanged gifts and Mayor Eddie DeLoach pledged a continuing cooperation between the two bodies of government through tourism and trade. And at the end of the ceremony, Mayor DeLoach presented the delegation with a key to the city.
"I not only accept this on my own behalf, but on the behalf of the people of Ireland and Wexford. I think it shows the great significance of the relationship that we have here. Because the key of any city can open many doors," said Irish Minister Paul Kehoe, Government Chief Whip, Department of the Taoiseach and Defense.
Minister Kehoe also extended an invitation to the mayor and other city representatives to come visit County Wexford in the future.
This is the minister's second visit in a row to Savannah for the Saint Patrick's Day festivities.
