SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Monday, some children from the West Broad Street YMCA helped Pacci Executive Chef, Dusty Grove, prepare lunch made with ingredients grown from the YMCA's gardens.

Chef Dusty is leading an effort to help the West Broad Street YMCA create a sustainable effort for their gardens with a culinary and corporate community challenge "Adopt a Plot" program. Chef Dusty says these kids will be able to use these skills throughout their lives.

"Learning how to get outdoors; get their hands dirty. From seedlings all the way to the table, from farm to table. It's a life skill because they can take this, what they are learning in this garden, and learning through the mentorship program with cooking, and feed themselves when they get older."

Pacci, the Brice Hotel, and the Savannah Food & Wine Festival have all already adopted gardens.
