Car fire causes brush fire overnight on St. Helena Island

ST. HELENA ISLAND, SC (WTOC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is looking into the cause of a vehicle fire that spread and caused a large brush fire early Friday morning.

The Lady's Island-St Helena Fire District responded to a car fire at the Station Creek Boat Landing on St. Helena Island around 1 a.m. Upon arrival, crews found a vehicle engulfed in flames that was endangering other vehicles and a boat.

The fire did manage to spread to large piles of brush nearby that were left over from the storm.

Crews were on scene for close to two hours working to extinguish the brush fire.

No injuries were reported and the car fire remains under investigation by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
