CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System continuing its round of town halls Monday night at New Hampstead High School.
District 7 Representative, Michael Johnson, met with residents. This was actually his first town wall. Johnson, the newest member of the board, was elected back in May.
He says he wants to get to know his constituents better and he wants them to know to never hesitate to ask a question.
Also provided Monday night, an update on the search for a new superintendent.
"With the chronically failing schools that we do have, that the governor has said that we have here in Chatham County, we need to make sure we have a superintendent that understands that and can work with that to bring those schools up without bringing the other schools down," said Johnson.
Twelve Savannah-Chatham County Schools are currently on the list of chronically failing schools.
The next town hall meeting will be Wednesday, March 29. It's at 6:30 p.m. at Brock Elementary School, hosted by Representative Ruby Jones.
