6 AEDs given to Metro precincts by Cory Joseph Wilson Memorial, Inc.

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Six automated external defibrillators (AEDs) were given to the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department from the Cory Joseph Wilson Memorial, Inc. on Thursday.

Cory Joseph Wilson, a Savannah native, died in 2013 due to a cardiac arrhythmia while in class at Georgia Southern University. There was no AED nearby at the time. In Cory's memory and in order to help others in need, friends and family organized the Cory Joseph Wilson Fireball 40 Memorial Baseball Tournament. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, supporters, and players, the tournament has helped Cory's family and friends present AEDs to Chatham County and other nearby locations.

Cory's parents, Lisa and Kenny Wilson, along with other family and friends were present to donate the AEDs.

The donated AEDs will be available for use in each precinct.

The AEDs were accepted through a Savannah City Council resolution.
