STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - Several bills are sitting on Governor Deal's desk, waiting to be signed, including the campus carry bill allowing students to bring guns onto campus.

The student branch of the National Rifle Association will visit Georgia Southern's campus on Wednesday to give an informational session as well as free memberships to those attending. The hour-long event is hosted by the Georgia Southern University College Republicans. They say during the program, they will provide the history of the NRA and dispel the common myths about the gun control debate.

On the flip side, another organization will host an informational session regarding House Bill 280. We spoke to several students - most who were against the bill - but some undecided.

"It makes me a little unnerved, but I know that there are a lot of really good people on campus, and I know there are a lot of responsible adults on campus, so personally, it doesn't really bother me too much, but if it was up to me, it's a little nervewracking," said GSU student, Jay Dios.

Georgia Southern University released the following statement addressing the proposed campus carry bill:

As part of the University System of Georgia,  we believe the new exemptions improve the bill. We prefer current law but are reviewing the legislation to see how it could be implemented at USG institutions.
