HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) - A marine Veteran in Hinesville is opening up about his depression and how he's been able to overcome it.

After three tries, he has successfully opened up a restaurant.

"Definitely, depression you know, you fail so many times at things and you want to give up," he said.

Christopher Hicks is giving back to the military community of Hinesville with his food. After failed attempts starting back in 2001, soldiers leaving for deployment and bad business decisions, he was at a standstill, but he recently opened up Chris' Curbside Grill 3.

"The thing with depression is, when you find that reason to keep going on, to keep on keeping on, your why when you come out of it and you keep going after it and things start to pan out like they have for me here. You appreciate everything so much more," he said.

Hicks has positive messages on the walls and welcomes families to come eat, talk with him, and learn more about his story. He says he couldn't have done it without the community's support. His advice to anyone struggling with depression is to keep trying.

"Whatever it is you're going for, you're shooting for, is right there. You can't give up. You can't stop," he said.
