19-year-old drowning victim at Steel Bridge River Landing identified

Bulloch and Effingham emergency officials responded to a drowning near the Steel Bridge River Landing in Guyton on Saturday afternoon around 11 a.m.

19-year-old Austin James King, of Guyton, was last seen near a rope swing in the area, where he was swimming with friends before he disappeared.

His friends searched and called for help.

Divers were able to locate the young man's body underneath the water.

King's body is being sent to GBI for an autopsy.

Austin J King's family will receive guests at Strickland Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

His funeral is set for Wednesday at 4 o'clock. His family says King loved the water and had just started a career at Gulfstream.
