SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Post Office on Abercorn Street was evacuated on Friday afternoon after people were complaining of a "chemical smell."

The irritation was causing breathing problems to some.

Savannah Fire got the call around 3 p.m. and responded to the scene. Savannah Fire Hazmat entered the building but found nothing that caused a problem. A second team made their way into the building and confirmed these findings.

Several tests were completed to try and locate the cause of the reaction.

Officials say the irritation could be from cleaning chemicals that were on-site. No was taken to the hospital to seek treatment.
