SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Savannah Philharmonic performed for patients at the Willett Children's Hospital at Memorial Health on Tuesday.
Children and families got the chance to her an adaptation of Mozart's 'The Magic Flute,' Staff says the musical break gave them the chance to be entertained and not focus on their illness. One mother we spoke with says her son was happy and says that it was nice to get out of the hospital room to enjoy the wonderful music. She also says having a positive experience at the hospital is important.
"It's important to me for my kid to have a positive day every day, get out there, learn new things, see new things," said Melinda Westphal, mother of patient. "Having this kind of program in the hospital and other things coming in and out of the room through the day really makes this experience better and he gets to learn from it which is nice to learn every day."
Some of the performances were done by the Philharmonic Chorus and the rest from volunteers from the Savannah community.
