BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) - Hundreds of family and friends gathered Wednesday night to celebrate the life of Charli Bobinchuck.
The 11-year-old girl died last week after being hit by a car while crossing Highway 278 in Beaufort. Mourners traveled to Chaplin Park on Hilton Head Island to celebrate her life. Those close to her tell us she had a love for animals and the environment. They also say the family is grateful for the overwhelming love and support from the community.
"Charli and her parents have had a lot of impact on a lot of peoples lives and the donations through the Go Fund Me page and all the texts and the love, they really want to say thank you to everybody for the huge outpouring of love from the whole community and even beyond, and they're just overwhelmed. They both said to me there's just not words that are really appropriate to say thank you. There's just not enough words," said family friend, Linda Prosser.
Mourners walked down the road to the beach afterward and released flowers into the ocean.
