SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Georgia State Patrol arrested James William Oliver after he allegedly crashed into two cars and a house Saturday morning. Troopers said his initial roadside blood alcohol content was three times the legal limit.

Oliver was driving southbound on Jefferson street in a Chevrolet Suburban and ran the stop sign at 37th street. That's when state troopers said Oliver's car struck a Hyundai Tucson carrying five passengers and ran over a telephone pole.

The car ran through an entire block of front yards, destroying landscape and fences.

Troopers said the crash happened around 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Oliver left the scene and crashed into another car and house at 52nd street and Barnard.

According to state troopers working the crash site, six people were sent to the hospital including the suspect. GSP said all five victims riding in the Hyundai Tucson were awake and responding when Chatham Emergency Services took them to the hospital.

GSP cleared the scene two hours later, and is leading an investigation.
