THE OPENING ROUND CO-LEADER... BRENDAN GILLINS OF SAVANNAH HAD A PAIR OF DOUBLE BOGIES EARLY... BUT STARTED TO GET IT BACK WITH A BIRDIE PUTT AT THE PAR-3 FIFTH HOLE. ON NUMBER 6... GILLINS ROLLS IN A 40-FOOTER FOR BIRDIE THAT HE SAID BROKE 6-FEET AND HE WAS JUST LUCKY TO MAKE... BUT DESPITE NOT PLAYING AS WELL TODAY HE'S STILL IN POSTION TO TAKE HOME THE HARDWARE. Gillins said, "I didn't hit them as well today. I hit a couple of bad shots that cost me dearly on the back side. I played the front side pretty well. I think I have a good chance of maybe going home with the trophy. It just all depends on tomorrow's round. I'm looking forward to it and hopefully playing another good round and getting rid of this old round, it's a bad round."
