Former President Carter Pays Visit to Savannah

Former President Jimmy Carter paid a special visit to Savannah this weekend. On Saturday night, President Carter stopped by Pinkie Master's Lounge on Drayton Street. The President and First Lady were in town for a wedding. The lounge's current owner, Mister Timmy, and former owner, Pinkie Masters were good friends of the Carters.

The former President worked the crowd to greet a few old friends and make some new ones. Many knew Carter while he was governor of Georgia.

"It's always good to be back in Savannah, particularly in Pinkie's place," said the former President. "This is really the headquarters of my whole campaign for governor and later for President. Just to come back in this tavern, which is one of the best in America, is always a great experience for me. Savannah has always been my favorite city in Georgia."
