The Coastal Empire Marks Deaf Awareness Month

Imagine what it would be like if you couldn't hear your friends and your family speak to you or listen to the birds sing or your favorite music. For millions of people, it's something they face every day. That's why people in the Coastal Empire are celebrating Deaf Awareness Month. On Sunday, Sign-ative, a non-profit organization, held a party to mark the event at the American Legion Hall on Victory Drive. Sign-ative offers the deaf, hard of hearing and hearing communities classes and social events to help them work together better.
