Caller experience during EF1 tornado shows 911 center still needs improvement after police demerger

In one 911 call during an EF-1 tornado that tore through Chatham County in late July, homeowner Larry North dialed 911 thinking he would receive emergency assistance after the storm ripped the roof from his home. Instead of the helping like North expected, the operator told him to find a pen and paper and call another number.
