BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - A suspect has been arrested after multiple people were shot in Burton early Monday morning.

According to BCSO, at approximately 1:50 a.m. Monday, deputies and EMS responded to a report of three gunshot victims at a residence on Roberts Lane.

Police say after collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses, it was determined that there was a dispute over a card game between 30-year-old Terrance Morgan, of Grays Hill, and 26-year-old Medicus Watson, of Seabrook.

Police say that Morgan showed a gun during the dispute. A short time later, gunfire was exchanged outside the shed where the card game was held.

The exchange of gunfire resulted in the death of Watson, as well as the wounding of the unnamed man (still hospitalized) and Morgan.

Morgan was treated and released from the hospital. Later Monday, Morgan was arrested and charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Morgan faces additional charges after investigators say he pointed a handgun at their vehicle prior to his arrest on Monday.

According to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, after pointing the handgun, Morgan began to run away. The three investigators in the lead car got out of their vehicle and gave chase, at which time Morgan turned around and again pointed the handgun at them, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Morgan reportedly threw the handgun, and, after a short foot chase, the investigators were able to capture him.

No one was injured during the arrest and no shots were fired.

Morgan is now charged with three counts of pointing and presenting a firearm.

The handgun was recovered and, after a National Crime Information Center records check was conducted, was listed as stolen out of Port Royal.
