SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Before you book your Airbnb for the Fourth of July weekend, you should know this, Airbnb is cracking down on the “party ban” they implemented back in 2020.

The company says they’re focusing on summer holidays like Memorial Day and the Fourth of July when it comes to banning people from booking through their website or app.

The polices in place to ban customers is done through new and extensive screening.

That includes the type of listing customers are looking for, the distance of booking to their home, number of members in a party, and whether or not they are booking last minute.

The company blocked more than 60,000 bookings nationally last year.

Over 3,000 of those were in Georgia.

“The most important thing about staying in a neighborhood is being respectful to your neighbors. Without that, we really don’t have an opportunity for people to travel and see places through the eyes of a local. And so we thought it was really important to make sure that the people who were booking on our platform, are not hosting unauthorized parties,” said Christopher Nulty, Airbnb’s Global Director of Communications.

Other efforts to support AirBnb hosts include a neighborhood policy. That allows the neighbors of the Airbnb home can stray connected and raise concerns to the company of possible parties or safety concerns.
