BRYAN COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - The Bryan County Sheriff’s Office shared a pro tip in a social media post Sunday.

They wrote, “If you’re gonna run from the police, maybe don’t wear a reflective vest.”

This comes after a situation where a passenger ran from law enforcement into the woods.

Bryan County Sheriff’s Office said this happened on Valentine’s Day.

They wrote, “On February 14th, after wrapping up the Southeast Traffic Enforcement Network (SETEN) meeting, the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office and several local agencies conducted a safety checkpoint to keep Bryan County roads safe. We were checking licenses, registrations, seatbelts, and making sure everyone was driving sober.”

At around 10 p.m. that night, law enforcement said a driver stopped their car in the roadway before reaching the checkpoint and a passenger ran out of the vehicle into the woods.

Multiple law enforcement officers and five K-9 unites were already on the scene when this incident occurred. A Bryan County deputy already on the scene sent out a thermal imaging drone to find the passenger.

Seconds later, the drone operator spotted a heat signature of the individual that ran.

Law enforcement says the suspect was wearing a reflective work vest.

“And here’s where it gets even better...The suspect was wearing a fluorescent yellow, highly reflective work vest. When the spotlight hit him, he lit up like a Christmas tree,” wrote Bryan County Sheriff’s Office.

The chase lasted a total of 11 minutes.

“Moral of the story? Running from the police never ends well—especially if you’re dressed like a human glow stick," wrote BCSO in a closing statement.
