SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Chatham County Commissioner Pat Farrell has announced his plan to run for a seat in the US Congress.

It’s seat currently held by United States Congressman and Coastal Empire Native, Buddy Carter. Carter has held the seat since 2015. Congressman Carter announced last month his intentions to run for U.S. Senator.

Farrell says he considers himself an authentic candidate, and points to his accomplishments on the County Commission being one of 3 republican commissioners.

“We are not monocultural, we have lots of different viewpoints and lots of different political viewpoints and I have been able to work well with them and accomplish great things even though I have been in the minority party as a commissioner all these years,” said Farrell.

Farrell has served on the Chatham County Commission for District 4 since 2004.
