MILAN, Tenn. (WMC/Gray News) - Tennessee authorities say a woman is facing charges after two of her children had to be hospitalized after eating THC gummies.

According to the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a residence on Trenton Milan Highway on Nov. 28 for a possible overdose involving two unresponsive children.

Deputies said they spoke with Candice Hickson, who told them her two children, ages 4 and 2, had eaten some of her THC gummies that she had stored in the bathroom.

Authorities said Candice Hickson has been charged with child abuse and endangerment.

The children ended up being taken to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital for treatment.

According to Gibson County authorities, Hickson was arrested and charged with child abuse and endangerment.

Gibson County Sheriff Paul Thomas said this situation should serve as a reminder that although certain THC gummies are legal to be purchased by adults, they can be dangerous.

Thomas added that these products need to be treated as any other medication, locked up and out of reach of children.

Hickson was being held on a $25,000 bond.
