SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - We’ll remain mostly cloudy today with temperatures reaching the 70s by lunchtime.

Highs will remain below average, only topping out in the mid to upper 70s this afternoon. A few coastal showers will be possible this afternoon into the early evening.

Our main focus will be on the wind today, with gusts over 25 miles per hour possible. Coastal communities could experience gusts over 30 miles per hour. Boating is not recommended, as a Gale Warning is in effect until 10 PM.

Tuesday Beach Forecast:

Today won’t be a great day to visit the beach. There is a high risk for rip currents with wave heights of 3 to 4 feet. The wind will be strong, gusting near 30 miles per hour from the northeast this afternoon with isolated showers possible.

Cooler and drier air will continue moving in on Wednesday with morning lows in the lower 60s, some inland areas will drop into the upper 50s. Highs will be near 80 degrees with nice weather in the afternoon. Gusts near 20 miles per hour will still be possible. Thursday will be one of our cooler mornings, with inland 50s and 60s near the coast. Highs will be in the lower 80s during the afternoon without any rain.

Friday looks like it’ll start out mostly dry, but rain could move in from the south as we approach the evening. Widespread moisture will likely move in this weekend, likely dampening plans or forcing them inside. It would be smart to keep an eye on the forecast if you have any plans.

Tropical update: We continue to watch Gulf where an area of low pressure that has an 90% of becoming a depression over the next 48 hours. This system, Invest 92-L, is expected to move onshore on Saturday along the Gulf coast to our west. Most guidance brings the center of circulation anywhere from Louisiana to the Florida panhandle.

This system could strengthen into Tropical Storm Isaias before landfall. Some models are even hinting that this could be a weak hurricane. No matter the strength of this system, we are expecting widespread rain across the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry.
