Stormwater fee assistance available through City of Savannah

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Stormwater utility fee assistance is now available for eligible residents, according to a post from the City of Savannah on Tuesday.

In the city’s partnership with Economic Opportunity for Savannah-Chatham County Area, Inc. (EOA), low-income residents living within Savannah city limits may be eligible for payment assistance.

To qualify, a family’s annual income must be within the city’s eligibility guidelines:

  • Residents must have an active residential utility account with the city.
  • Residents must live at the service address listed as the primary residence.
  • Residents must have a total household income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
  • If your account has a past-due balance, you must be enrolled in an active payment plan and be making payments in accordance with that agreement.

Based on Federal Poverty Guidelines, the maximum annual household income is:

  • 1 person: $31,920
  • 2 people: $43,280
  • 3 people: $54,640
  • 4 people: $66,000
  • 5 people: $77,360
  • 6 people: $88,720
  • 7 people: $100,080
  • 8 people: $111,440
  • For households with more than eight people, add $11,360 for each additional household member.

Residents interested in applying for help can schedule an appointment with the EOA. All applicants must attend their meeting in person at the EOA Cuyler Building at 618 West Anderson St.

At the meeting, residents will need to bring:

  • Current City of Savannah utility bill
  • Picture ID
  • Proof of income (including but not limited to: 2026 Social Security award letter, paycheck stub, public assistance award letter or unemployment benefits for all applicable members of the household)

The EOA will be open for calls on this assistance program at 912-888-8082 starting Sunday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. Press 1 to receive an appointment date and time.

To accept the appointment offered, press 1 again. To decline, press 2. Callers will then have one additional opportunity to accept or decline before the call ends. You can then hang up and call the appointment line again to receive a different appointment.
