Empty Bowl fundraiser to serve up support for Savannah’s homeless services
Food, handcrafted bowls and live music will benefit Union Mission’s new Emmaus House Resource Center.
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A bowl of soup and a piece of handmade art will help support services for people experiencing homelessness during Union Mission’s Empty Bowl fundraiser.
The ceramic arts fundraiser and tasting will take place Sunday, Nov. 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Reynolds Square. Proceeds will benefit Union Mission’s new Emmaus House Resource Center.
Guests can sample soups prepared by Union Mission’s culinary team and additional bites from The Olde Pink House, Collins Quarter, The Sentient Bean and Leopold’s Ice Cream.
The event will also feature live music by harpist Kristen King. Guests can choose a handcrafted ceramic bowl and take home a branded tote.
“Empty Bowl brings our community together around the shared belief that every neighbor deserves dignity, care and a path to stable housing,” said Michael Traynor, Union Mission’s president and CEO.
According to Union Mission, the Emmaus House Resource Center serves nearly 200 people daily. Services include meals, medical care, counseling, case management, workforce development, dignity services and housing navigation in one location.
Following the fundraiser, guests can take an optional tour of the center at 127 Fahm St. The tour begins at 1:30 p.m., and parking will be available.
