Savannah business leaders inducted into Junior Achievement Hall of Fame
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Two Broughton Street business leaders were honored Friday night for their contributions to Coastal Georgia.
Hundreds gathered at the Hyatt Regency Savannah for the 26th annual Junior Achievement Savannah Business Hall of Fame, where Lowell Kronowitz, owner and president of Levy Jewelers, and Stratton Leopold, movie producer and owner of Leopold’s Ice Cream, were inducted.
WTOC’s Dawn Baker served as emcee for the event.
Organizers said the Business Hall of Fame recognizes the inductees’ contributions to the community and local economy while giving young people business leaders to look up to.
“Junior Achievement is thrilled to be able to honor them and induct them because what we’re trying to do is show young people, business people, can look up to and emulate,” said Camille Russo, vice president of Junior Achievement of Georgia.
Russo said Junior Achievement has been in Savannah for more than 30 years, teaching young people about financial literacy, entrepreneurship and career opportunities.
The organization teaches more than 13,000 students a year in Coastal Georgia, Russo said. Friday’s celebration also served as a fundraiser to help its programs continue.
