SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Happy Saturday!

Temperatures are starting out in the 40s and 50s this morning, a few degrees warmer than yesterday. It’ll be a breezy day, with gusts out of the northeast at 20 miles per hour this morning and over 25 miles per hour this afternoon.

The wind will be even stronger along the coast. We’ll warm to the upper 60s by noon with highs in the mid 70s this afternoon.

Saturday beach conditions: Today won’t be a good day to be along the coast. There is a high risk for rip currents. The wind will be blowing from the northeast at 20 to 30 miles per hour. Wave heights at the coast will range from 3 to 5 feet, with even larger waves offshore.

Tybee tides: High - 6:50 AM/Low - 1:31 PM

Hilton Head tides: High - 7:00 AM/Low - 1:15 PM

We’ll be watching the high astronomical tides this weekend into next week. Minor/moderate coastal flooding will be possible. The gauge at Fort Pulaski is expected to reach minor flood stage around 7 AM and 7 PM Saturday. Even higher tides are expected on Sunday and Monday. Sunday’s high tide will peak around 10.2 feet between 7-8 AM on Sunday. A friendly reminder, once the gauge gets close to 10 feet, water can get onto Highway 80.

Monday’s high tide is expected to be the highest of this coastal flooding evening. The forecast is for a 10.4′ tide to occur at Fort Pulaski between 8-9 AM. If this verifies, water would be on Highway 80, a temporary closure will be likely during the morning commute. At 10.4′ this would also be a top ten tide recorded at Fort Pulaski.

Breezy conditions continue on Sunday with gusts of 25 to 30 miles per hour. Some stronger gusts will be possible. Temperatures will star out in the 50s with highs in the mid 70s. The temperatures will be similar on Monday with gusts near 20 miles per hour.

The middle of the week will be slightly cooler, with warmer weather building in as we approach Halloween weekend.
